About J.Palle Confections
J. Palle Confections successfully create a new genre in the world of high-end chocolate and cookie sales. These famous balls combine liquors with unique and exotic ingredients to become a modern form of an old fashioned “Rum Ball.”
Owner and creator Judith Ann Malik holds a B.F.A. from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in Acting. For the last 15 years she has been pursing her career as an actress. To make ends meet in-between jobs, she bartended in various high-end restaurants in NYC. Finding new ways to mix liquors and flavors became a constant hobby from which her regular customers always benefitted. Her interesting personality and talent to talk about anything come in handy in both professions as she has to sell herself as an actress and food and liquor while working behind the bar.
Growing up in NJ, her mother Carole Malik was always looking for ways to keep her children busy. Judith’s first business venture was a shared crafting business with her four sisters, “Crafts Etc.,” which sold small handmade trinkets for the holidays. The idea was to sell crafts made by children to give to children during the holiday season. The girls worked on their wares during the summer and sold them every November at the local holiday craft fair. She even learned a hard business lesson when the craft fair “upgraded” to only high-end products and “Crafts Etc.” was not offered a space after 4 years of sales. The business folded, but the knowledge gained had already made its impact.
Every Christmas Mom Malik would throw a Christmas Cookie exchange party. As an adult Judith wanted to combine the old world charm of her mother’s original cookies with her new world as a mixologist. After finding and changing a basic recipe from her version of the “B-52” Ball was born. Instantly popular with friends and family, she was immediately asked by regular patrons if they could purchase some for the holidays. Donning the quirky name “Judy’s Famous Balls” and adding some more flavors, a small holiday business was created. The massive success and further request for the products have surged the idea into this grander perspective.
